Wesley Louden Borland was born on February 7, 1975, in Richmond, Virginia. He grew up in a creative household and developed an early interest in visual art and music, two passions that would define his career. Before rising to prominence, he honed his guitar skills in various local bands, laying the groundwork for a distinctive style that would later set him apart from his peers.

Borland gained worldwide recognition as the guitarist and backing vocalist of the nu metal band Limp Bizkit, which achieved massive mainstream success in the late 1990s and early 2000s. His unconventional playing style, combined with his striking visual presentation, made him one of the most recognizable figures in rock music during that era. In 1998, while still with Limp Bizkit, he formed the experimental metal band Big Dumb Face with his brother Scott. Borland left Limp Bizkit in 2001 to pursue side projects, including Eat the Day and The Damning Well.

He rejoined Limp Bizkit in 2004 and subsequently founded Black Light Burns, serving as the band's lead vocalist and guitarist. With Black Light Burns, he released three studio albums and a covers album, exploring alternative and industrial rock sounds. Limp Bizkit went on hiatus following the release of "The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1)" in 2005, but the band's original lineup reunited in 2009 and recorded their fifth studio album, "Gold Cobra," released in 2011. In 2016, Borland released his solo album "Crystal Machete," further showcasing his range as a songwriter and performer.

Throughout his career, Borland has been celebrated for his sonic experimentation and elaborate visual appearance, which has included face and body paint, masks, and uniforms. Beyond music, he has drawn album covers and created artwork for many of his music projects, as well as producing oil paintings. His talents earned him a ranking of number 37 in Total Guitar's Top 100 Guitarists of All Time. Borland also formed the label Edison Sound, which releases his own music projects, demonstrating his commitment to creative independence. As a founding member of Limp Bizkit and the driving force behind Black Light Burns and Big Dumb Face, Borland remains an influential and multifaceted figure in modern rock music.
