Born on March 7, 1964 in Portsmouth, Virginia, Wanda spent most of her younger years in Maryland but later returned to Virginia to enter its Hampton University where she finally obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. Determined to pursue a career in entertainment industry instead, she then tried to look for a way to exhibit her flair in comedy and so decided to join Coors Light Super Talent Showcase in Washington D.C. by 1987, for the first time performing in front of a live audience.
