Three Days Grace Biography

news-detailsThree Days Grace were formed in Norwood, Ontario, Canada in 1992 under the moniker Groundswell. After a 1995 breakup, they reformed in 1997 a new line-up; Adam Gontier on vocal, Neil Sanderson on drum and Brad Walst on bass. The name Three Days Grace was picked up from the question: "If you had three days to change something in your life, could you do it?".

After five years making indie music, this band were signed to Jive Records and moved to Long View Farm, a studio in North Brookfield, Massachusetts to record their major-label debut album. The effort was self-titled and dropped in 2003 when Barry Stock was added as guitar player in the band. Led by single "I Hate Everything About You", it peaked at No. 1 on Billboard Hotseekers Albums chart.

Following the release of "Three Days Grace" album, the band went on a tour. During the roadshow unfortunately, Adam was addicted to drugs and alcohol and checked himself into rehab after the band finished touring. While trying to stay clean from the drugs, he began writing material for the band's second album. That's why he claimed the sophomore set "One-X" was more personal to him compared to the band's previous releases.

The June 2006 album earned them their first chart-busting album as it debuted at No. 5 on Billboard Hot 200 with first week sales of more than 78,000. After three years in being put in the market, it sold over 1,200,000 copies in the U.S. alone and was certified Platinum in the country and across the pond.

In 2009, they return with another studio project "Life Starts Now". Neil said, "The new album is basically a commentary on the last couple years of our lives. Things have been fairly traumatic for more than one of us. We've all had to confront death on a few different levels, and we've had family go through some health-related things, so, for us, Life Starts Now reflects that feeling of redefining what life is and what it means to be alive after you hit rock bottom."

The third album came out across U.S. on September 22. Its lead single "Break" which tells about the band's effort to break away from bad influences ruled Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart.
