Emerging from South East London in 2010, Stooshe established themselves as a vibrant and distinctive force in British R&B. The trio, comprised of Alexandra Buggs, Karis Anderson, and Courtney Rumbold, carved out a niche with their bold, retro-inspired sound and unapologetically playful image, quickly capturing the attention of the UK music scene. Their major breakthrough arrived in 2012 with the infectious single "Love Me," a collaboration with American rapper Travie McCoy that soared to number five on the UK Singles Chart and announced their arrival with undeniable flair.
This early success was solidified later that year with the release of "Black Heart," a brash and catchy track that outperformed their debut by peaking at number three on the charts. Their nomination for the BBC's Sound of 2012 poll further underscored their status as one of the year's most promising new acts. Demonstrating their range, the group released a well-received cover of TLC's classic "Waterfalls" in November 2012, followed by the single "Slip," which reached number twelve. This run of hits culminated in the release of their debut album, London with the Lights On, in May 2013, which encapsulated their energetic blend of R&B, pop, and hip-hop influences.
Following a period of transition, Stooshe returned with new material, signaling work on a second album. The first single, "Lock Down," was released in January 2016, showcasing a matured but still characterful sound. They followed this with the single "Let It Go" in July of the same year. While further album details remained forthcoming, these releases reaffirmed the group's creative partnership and their enduring presence in the UK music landscape. Throughout their career, Stooshe has been celebrated for their harmonious vocals, charismatic performances, and a style that pays homage to the girl groups of the past while firmly establishing their own contemporary identity.
