Born Roseanne Park but known globally by her stage name ROSE, she emerged as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary K-pop as a member of the powerhouse girl group BLACKPINK. Her ethereal vocals and commanding stage presence helped propel the quartet to unprecedented international fame, making her a celebrated singer and style icon. As the group's main vocalist and lead dancer, ROSE played an integral role in shaping the sound and success that defined a generation of pop music.
She was born in Auckland, New Zealand, on February 11, 1997, and moved to Melbourne, Australia, as a child. Her early life was steeped in music, learning piano and guitar from a young age and singing in church choirs. At the age of 16, her life took a dramatic turn when she successfully auditioned for YG Entertainment in Sydney, beating out some 700 other contestants. She then moved to South Korea to begin her rigorous training, a period that lasted approximately four years before her official debut.
ROSE's professional career began in August 2016 as a member of BLACKPINK, which quickly became a cultural phenomenon. The group's debut singles "Whistle" and "Boombayah" were instant hits, with ROSE's unique vocal timbre becoming a signature element of tracks like "Playing with Fire" and "Stay." BLACKPINK achieved numerous milestones, including being the first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella and to top the Billboard 200 album chart. Their collaborations with major artists like Lady Gaga on "Sour Candy" and Dua Lipa on "Kiss and Make Up" further cemented their global status.
While achieving immense success with the group, ROSE also cultivated a solo career that showcased her artistry. Her solo debut single album "-R-," released in 2021, featured the lead track "On The Ground," which broke records by debuting at number one on the Billboard Global 200 chart. The follow-up single "Gone" further demonstrated her emotional depth and vocal prowess. Her solo endeavors earned her critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase, proving her star power extended beyond the group dynamic. As a member of BLACKPINK, she continues to perform in history-making world tours and release chart-topping music, solidifying her position as a leading figure in the global music industry.
