Uppalapati Venkata Suryanarayana Prabhas Raju, known mononymously as Prabhas, is an Indian actor who predominantly works in Telugu cinema and has risen to become one of the highest-paid actors in Indian cinema, earning international recognition as a pan-Indian star. Born on 23 October 1979, he has been featured in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list since 2015 and is often referred to in the media as "Rebel Star." With over 24 films to his name, he has received seven Filmfare Awards nominations, a Nandi Award, and a SIIMA Award, cementing his status as a major force in the industry.

Prabhas made his acting debut with the drama Eeswar in 2002, but it was the action romance Varsham in 2004 that marked his breakthrough, establishing him as a leading man in Telugu cinema. He followed this success with a string of commercially and critically acclaimed films, including Chatrapathi in 2005, Bujjigadu in 2008, Billa in 2009, Darling in 2010, Mr. Perfect in 2011, and Mirchi in 2013, for which he won the Nandi Award for Best Actor. These early works showcased his versatility and built a loyal fan base, setting the stage for his monumental leap into global stardom.

Prabhas's career reached an unprecedented height with his dual role in the epic action duology Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and its sequel Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), directed by S. S. Rajamouli. The latter became the highest-grossing Indian film of all time at that point, catapulting Prabhas to international fame and making him the first pan-Indian star. His performance earned him widespread acclaim and recognition, and he became the first Indian actor to have a film gross over ?1000 crore worldwide. He is also the only Indian actor to have six films with a worldwide gross opening of over ?100 crore and the only South Indian actor with six films crossing the ?100 crore net mark in the Hindi market.

Following the Baahubali phenomenon, Prabhas starred in the action thriller Saaho in 2019, the action drama Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire in 2023, and the science fiction film Kalki 2898 AD in 2024, all of which rank among the highest-grossing Indian films. These projects further solidified his reputation as a bankable star capable of drawing massive audiences across linguistic and regional boundaries. Additionally, he made history as the first South Indian actor to receive a wax sculpture at a Madame Tussauds museum, a testament to his global appeal. As of 2025, Prabhas continues to be a dominant presence in Indian cinema, with several high-profile projects in development that are highly anticipated by fans and industry observers alike.
