Mike Richards Biography

news-detailsMike Richards is an American businessman and former television producer, game show host, and television personality whose career has spanned some of the most iconic game shows in American television history. Born on July 5, 1975, in Burbank, California, Richards built a reputation as a skilled producer and host before becoming a central figure in one of the most publicized hosting controversies in modern television.

Richards rose to prominence as the executive producer of Let's Make a Deal and The Price Is Right from 2009 to 2019, overseeing two of the longest-running and most recognizable game shows on American television. During this period, he also hosted several series, including High School Reunion, Beauty and the Geek, Pyramid, and Divided, establishing himself as a versatile on-camera presence in addition to his behind-the-scenes work. In 2020, he expanded his producing portfolio by serving as executive producer of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and he took on executive producing duties for both Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune, two of the most storied franchises in the game show genre.

Following the death of longtime Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek in 2020, Richards was named in August 2021 as Trebek's successor for the daily syndicated version of the program. His appointment, however, proved short-lived. Later that same month, he resigned as host amid mounting criticism over offensive comments he had made on The Randumb Show podcast, as well as wrongful termination and sexual harassment lawsuits brought by models during his tenure as executive producer of The Price Is Right. Richards hosted only one week's worth of episodes, which aired in September 2021 as part of the show's 38th season, making his tenure one of the briefest in the program's history.

In the years following his departure from the game show world, Richards shifted his focus toward media leadership. On May 20, 2025, it was announced that he would join The Daily Wire, becoming its president and chief content officer following the exit of former president Jeremy Boreing in March 2025. Exactly one year after joining the company, on May 20, 2026, Richards is set to become the CEO of The Daily Wire, marking a new chapter in a career defined by both significant achievements in television production and a highly scrutinized public downfall. He is married to Stephanie Richards.
