Kane Brown Biography

news-detailsKane Brown was born on October 21, 1993 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Raised by his single mother, he moved around with his family when he was younger before finally settling in Red Bank, Tennessee, where he first became interested in music while in high school. Brown was interested to R&B at first, but he eventually decided to focus on country music after winning a talent contest with his rendition of Chris Young's "Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song)".

Buoyed by that success, he began posting videos online of covers of songs by the likes of Brantley Gilbert, Alan Jackson and others. He quickly developed a loyal following of viewers and fan base that helped his first own single "Don't Go City on Me" go viral upon its release in 2014. In the following year, he released his debut EP "Closer" which peaked at No. 22 on Top Album Sales chart.

His second single, "Used to Love You Sober", garnered one million streams in under three hours after its release in October. The song reached No. 2 on Country Digital Songs chart based on two days of sales, with 38,000 copies sold. Following the success of the second single, he unveiled several other singles such as "Last Minute Late Night" and "I Love That I Hate You".

Welcoming the new year, Brown signed recording contract with RCA and Sony Music Nashville on January 27, 2016. His first EP under the label, "Chapter 1", was released on March 18 and featured previously released singles "Used to Love You Sober" and "Last Minute Late Night". It debuted at No. 9 on Billboard 200 and No. 3 on Top Country Albums chart after selling 30,000 units in its first week.

Brown didn't take too long to finally release his debut album. Hitting the stores on December 2, his self-titled album arrived at No. 10 on Billboard 200. Its third single, "What Ifs" featuring Lauren Alaina, was certified platinum by RIAA in addition to spending five weeks atop Hot Country Songs chart. The song also won Collaborative Video of the Year at CMT Music Awards.

The deluxe version of the album was unveiled on October 6, 2017 and featured four new tracks, including "Heaven". It peaked at No. 5 on Billboard 200 and ruled Top Country Albums chart. Thanks to the success of his debut album, Brown brought home all trophies for the country category at the 2018 American Music Awards.

Brown immediately went back to work after tying the knot with his fiancee of one year Katelyn Jae on October 12. He released his sophomore album "Experiment" on November 9. It launched at No. 1 on Billboard 200, making it his first No. 1 album.
