Emerging from the vibrant Oxford music scene in 2005, Foals established themselves as one of the most inventive and rhythmically compelling British indie rock bands of their generation. Founded by core members Yannis Philippakis (vocals, guitar), Jack Bevan (drums), and Jimmy Smith (guitar), the band's initial math-rock inflected sound quickly evolved, earning them a reputation for intricate guitar work, propulsive danceable beats, and ambitious artistic scope. Their journey from underground buzz to major festival headliners is a testament to their consistent musical evolution and powerful live performances.

The band's early releases, including the "Try This on Your Piano" single and the "Hummer" EP, built significant anticipation, leading to their acclaimed 2008 debut album, "Antidotes." Produced by David Sitek of TV on the Radio, the album was a burst of spiky, energetic guitar pop that bypassed traditional rock structures, becoming a cult favorite and charting in the UK Top 40. Their international breakthrough arrived with their sophomore effort, 2010's "Total Life Forever." Building on this success, Foals embraced a bigger, more expansive rock sound on 2013's "Holy Fire," which produced the massive hits "Inhaler" and "My Number" and earned them a BRIT Award nomination for Best British Group. This period solidified their status as arena-filling performers. They continued this trajectory with the ambitious twin album project "What Went Down" (2015) and "Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 1" (2019) and "Part 2" (2019).
