Emerging from the misty landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, Fleet Foxes established themselves as one of the most critically revered indie folk bands of their generation, renowned for their intricate baroque harmonies, pastoral lyricism, and richly textured instrumentation. Formed in Seattle, Washington in 2006, the band's core has always been the creative partnership between principal songwriter Robin Pecknold and guitarist Skyler Skjelset. The lineup solidified over time to include Casey Wescott on keyboards, Christian Wargo on bass, and the multi-instrumentalist Morgan Henderson, creating a versatile ensemble capable of weaving complex sonic tapestries.

The band's ascent was swift and decisive. After self-releasing a demo EP, they signed with the legendary Seattle label Sub Pop. In 2008, they released the "Sun Giant" EP and their self-titled debut album, "Fleet Foxes," in quick succession. It became their highest-charting album, reaching number four on the Billboard 200, and earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album. Following an extended hiatus during which Pecknold pursued academic studies, the group reconvened for 2017's "Crack-Up," a complex, suite-like album released on Nonesuch Records that reflected a more fragmented and experimental approach to song structure.

The band's narrative took an unexpected turn with 2020's "Shore," an album written and recorded primarily by Pecknold during the global pandemic and released as a de facto solo project on the Anti- label. Despite the absence of his bandmates' direct involvement, the album's sun-drenched, life-affirming tone was hailed as a masterpiece and won the band a second Grammy nomination, this time for Best Alternative Music Album. Fleet Foxes continue to tour and create, their music maintaining a unique and cherished place in the modern musical landscape, celebrated for its emotional depth, artistic ambition, and unwavering commitment to craft.
