Manages to gain great result in their first step into recording industry, DAUGHTRY sure is more than worthy to receive wide exposure directed to them that has been circulating around ceaselessly since the initial success of their self-titled debut album. For the month of November 2006 only, the band has already made a handful of TV appearances that included those on �Good Morning America�, �Live with Regis & Kelly�, and �Jimmy Kimmel Live�, all proving the media's enthusiasm in welcoming their arrival on the music scene. Next slated to be the presenter at Billboard Music Awards held on December 4 and performer at Southern Sports Awards on date 8, it seems the road ahead is nicely smooth enough for this newly-established rock act to undergo.

Hailed from North Carolina, DAUGHTRY is a quintet consisting of frontman Chris Daughtry (born Christopher Adam Daughtry on December 26, 1979 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina) on vocals, Josh Steeley on lead guitar, JP Paul on bass guitar, Joey Barnes on drums, and Jeremy Brady on guitar. The idea to form the band was first developed by Chris following his decision to turn down the offer from Fuel to be the group's lead singer after he was voted off in the fourth place on the fifth season of �American Idol.� �I began my music career as a songwriter, but I've always believed in the power of a band,� he said, describing the reason behind the thought. �The great moments are when you're able to capture that extra special connection between members that you can't really define. That's what I'm striving for.�

Determined to assemble a desirable lineup on his own, Chris afterwards held an intense audition in which he was fully involved right from the start and in the end, cast his choice on the aforementioned young men. �We've found the right guys and I'm really excited about the prospects of what we can do,� so he commented upon reaching his goal. Under the name of DAUGHTRY, which obviously was taken from Chris' last name, these five hunks delightfully did not need a long time to click to one another to then produce a hefty batch of twenty-one compositions for their music producers to draw from. The songs selected substantially were put together as the content of the troupe's self-titled debut album released through RCA Records and 19 Recordings Limited on November 21, 2006.

Much to their surprise, public response to this first work was unbelievably tremendous for a new band like them. Not only it instantly reached number one spot on iTunes, the LP amazingly soared right away to the second rank of The Billboard 200 after successfully sold approximately 304,000 copies in its first week, only one notch below Jay-Z's �Kingdom Come.� The self-titled album later on reached #1 spot in the chart and reprised its position for the second time on March 7, 2007 at 90,000 copies sold. This closes the total sales of the album at two million copies and therefore is Soundscan's fastest selling debut rock album.
