Around four years after leaving the U.K. and royal duties, the Duke of Sussex finally marks a significant shift in his life by officially listing the United States as his primary residence.

AceShowbiz - Prince Harry has renounced his British residency and officially declared the United States as his primary residence, according to recent paperwork filed by Travalyst, an eco-tourism organization he founded. The filing, submitted by Companies House, a branch of the U.K. government, indicates that Harry's "new country/state" is now the U.S., effective June 29, 2023.

This change follows years of speculation and pressure on U.S. President Joe Biden to make public Harry's visa application, particularly after he admitted to drug use in his 2023 memoir, "Spare". The move also coincides with Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, vacating Frogmore Cottage, their official U.K. residence, on June 28, 2023.

Harry and Meghan stepped down from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to Montecito, California, where they have established their home and raised their children. Despite their departure from the U.K., they had initially hoped to maintain a half-in, half-out approach to royal life. However, Queen Elizabeth II rejected this plan during the "Sandringham Summit," giving them a one-year transition period to change their minds.

Since then, Harry and Meghan have navigated a strained relationship with the royal family, with tensions particularly high after the news of Princess Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis was withheld from Harry. While Harry continues to visit the U.K., he has expressed feeling "forced" to leave due to safety concerns.

Although it's unclear if Harry's decision to renounce his British residency will impact his titles, it could potentially lead to further discussions with his father, King Charles III, during his upcoming visit to London. Harry has previously expressed his desire to obtain American citizenship, but this process may require him to renounce his royal titles.

As Harry and Meghan settle into their new life in the U.S., they continue to express their love for California, where they have established a close-knit community. Harry has also launched a new website focusing on his royal connections, indicating that his ties to the U.K. may not be entirely severed.
