AceShowbiz - "The Golden Bachelor" star Gerry Turner has responded to an ex-girlfriend's recent damning claims against him. In an expose released shortly before the finale of his "The Golden Bachelor" season aired, the anonymous ex-girlfriend claimed that Gerry refused to take her to his high school reunion because of her weight.
When asked if the story was accurate, Gerry told The New York Times, "I guess I haven't really looked at it as how accurate it is. I've more looked at it in terms of timing, and how it really doesn't fit with all of the positive things that are going on in my life right now."
He went on referring to his fiancee Theresa Nist, saying, "I mean, I'm sitting across from Theresa right now, and I look at her, and she's the love of my life. And I really don't have time to think about some of the other stuff."
Similarly, the retired restaurateur told Los Angeles Times of the matter, "My only response is that I have so many positive things in my life right now. I have the wonderful love of Theresa, my partner. I don't have time to reflect on comments like this. I'm happy to look forward."
In a report published by The Hollywood Reporter, a woman, who went by Carolyn in an article to keep her anonymity, claimed that she used to date Gerry for three years before he went to the ABC show to find love. Carolyn said that they started dating only a month after his ex-wife Toni died in 2017, shutting down Gerry's claim that he hadn't been kissed since.
She further alleged that they moved in together in summer 2018, 10 months after they started dating, and that was when he started showing another side of him. Carolyn alleged that Gerry made her pay $850 a month to cover her expenses in addition to splitting the cost of all meals. He also made sure that Carolyn made the bed before having breakfast.
Carolyn added that Gerry refused to take her to his high school reunion after she gained 10 pounds. "I'm not taking you to the reunion looking like that," Gerry allegedly told her. That seemed to be the final straw as they broke up after the incident.
In "The Golden Bachelor" finale, meanwhile, Gerry decided to pick Theresa over Leslie Fhima. He proposed to Theresa, who gladly accepted his golden rose. Additionally, the new couple is set to tie the knot in a televised Italian wedding on January 4, 2024.
