The upcoming film, which is based on the Broadway musical adapted from the original 'Mean Girls' movie in 2004, stars Renee Rapp as Regina George and Angourie Rice as Cady Heron.

AceShowbiz - Paramount Pictures has officially released the "Mean Girls" movie musical trailer. While some people were looking forward to watching the upcoming film after seeing the sneak peek, others were left baffled over its lack of music.

Published on Wednesday, November 8, the trailer teases what promises to be a lively production full of familiar characters. The film is based on the Broadway musical adapted from the original "Mean Girls" movie, which was released back in 2004.

However, fans noticed that the trailer didn't preview any songs from the musical itself. It prompted one user to write on X, formerly Twitter, "A trailer… of a musical… where no one sings." Another penned, "Why are you hiding that this is a musical."

A third commented, "Nothing can't beat the original mean girls movie." Someone else asked, "So is it the musical or are we just remaking every successful movie?" A different individual then argued, "uhhh, why does this trailer hide the fact that it's a MUSICAL? why am I only hearing Olivia Rodrigo???"

One other person, in the meantime, suggested some songs that could be used in the flick. "songs that could've been used from the musical itself instead of olivia #MeanGirls 1. meet the plastics 2. world burn 3. apex predator 4. someone gets hurt."

The film, which is based on the Broadway musical adapted from the original "Mean Girls" movie in 2004, stars Renee Rapp as Regina George, Avantika Vandanapu as Karen Shetty, Bebe Wood as Gretchen Wieners, Angourie Rice as Cady Heron and Christopher Briney as Aaron Samuels. Tina Fey, who wrote the screenplay for both movies, returns as Ms. Norbury.

Joining the cast are also Busy Phillips and Jon Hamm. Busy takes on the role of the disorganized mother Mrs. George, while Jon plays Coach Carr. "Mean Girls" movie musical is set to hit theaters on January 12, 2024.
