AceShowbiz - Zayn Malik joined other celebrities in celebrating Halloween. The former One Direction singer made use of his Instagram account to share a picture of himself dressing as an iconic "Harry Potter" character, only to get criticized by Internet users.
In the Tuesday, October 31 post, the "Pillow Talk" hitmaker was unrecognizable as he transformed into Lord Voldemort a.k.a. "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" from J.K. Rowling's best-selling "Harry Potter" novels. The 30-year-old wore a bald prosthetic head featuring Voldemort's snake-like nose as well as the character's signature black gown.
"Happy Halloween," so he captioned the post. Fans, however, slammed the singer, who is of Pakistani descent, for staying silent on the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict as Israel continues its attack on Gaza strip.
"Sir people are dying in palestine this is what you're posting," one said in the comments section. Some others echoed the sentiment by commenting, "Free Palestine."
On the other hands, some fans praised Zayn for nailing the Voldemort costume. "Please you actually look scary. I remember when I cried after watching lord voldemort in 4th movie for the first time when I was small," a fan noted.
"ZAYN WON," one other said. "I was not expecting this let's be fr," another wrote, while someone added, "ZAAYNNNN i don't even recognize you."
While Zayn has yet to comment on the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, some celebrities made use of their social media accounts to weigh in on the matter. More recently, Selena Gomez condemned the attack that claimed so many innocent lives.
"I've been taking a break from social media because my heart breaks to see all of the horror, hate, violence and terror that's going on in the world," the 31-year-old star wrote on her Instagram Story on Monday. "People being tortured and killed or any act of hate towards any one group is horrific."
"We need to protect ALL people, especially children and stop the violence for good. I'm sorry if my words will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag. I just can't stand by innocent people getting hurt. That's what makes me sick," the "Only Murders in the Building" star added. "I wish I could change the world. But a post won't. Love, Selena."
