Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd are feeling "overjoyed." A few days after welcoming their second child together, the "Dancing With the Stars" pro-dancer couple shared with the public the name of their newborn in addition to unveiling their baby boy's face.
On Wednesday, June 21, 43-year-old Maksim and 36-year-old Peta shared details of their baby number two through a collaborative post on Instagram. In the caption, they wrote along with two blue heart emojis, "Rio John Chmerkovskiy. Born ~ 6.18.2023. 8.6 oz and thriving!"
The proud parents, who also have 6-year-old son Shai Aleksander together, went on to express their bliss by writing, "We are overjoyed to share our baby boy with all of you." On how their firstborn is doing after the arrival of Rio, they gushed, "@shai.aleksander is already the best big brother and we all feel very complete. Life is good XO."
Along with the post, Maksim and Peta let out a full-frontal photo of their newborn baby. In the snap, their second child could be seen laying on a white bed sheet while being wrapped in an all-beige outfit consisting of a long-sleeved top, a pair of long pants and a beanie. Laying next to their baby's head was a wooden decoration engraved with "Rio John" name.
A few days prior, Maksim announced that he and Peta welcomed their second child. On Sunday, June 18, he uploaded an Instagram photo of himself adoringly gazing at his newborn who was cradled in his arms. In the caption of his Father's Day post, he penned, "Happy Father's Day to me! #MadeInPeta."
Before welcoming their second child, Maksim and Peta reflected on spending six years with their firstborn Shai. Along with a video highlighting the unforgettable moments the three had together, they wrote in the caption of a joint post, "Reflecting back on the 6 incredible life changing years we’ve had with you @shai.aleksander. You finally get your wish too."
"I will never forget you asking me when you aren't going to be alone anymore, you said 'Mummy, I'm sad…' I said 'Why my love what happened?' …he said 'I'm alone…when will it be my turn to get a brother or sister?' ……it broke my heart, if only you knew knew…. I turned my face away as I welled up with tears…. I knew how badly you wanted someone else, a friend, a mate. It ripped me to pieces for years," they continued.
"Now here we are, days away from meeting our next addition. To witness Shai hold him and stare at him for the first time will probably make my heart combust. Life is good," they added. "I feel like I can finally use the term 'blessed' without cringing, as it really sums up this moment in time for our family."
