AceShowbiz - Jazmine Sullivan left fans disappointed as she was forced to cancel her set at Leimert Park Juneteenth Festival. Things were okay until it was time for the R&B star to perform as social media users suggested that multiple crowd stampedes caused disruption at the festival, which was hosted by Amazon Music Live.
Following the cancellation, Jazmine took to her Instagram account to address the matter without revealing why her set was called off. "I hope everyone made it home to their loved ones tonight!" so the "In Love With Another Man" hitmaker wrote. "I'm so disappointed we couldn't come together and celebrate Juneteenth!"
The acclaimed singer went on to urge fans to leave the venue as she said, "If you're still at the park please leave. The show is cancelled."
It's currently still unknown what caused the stampedes. Some accounts on Twitter claimed that there was a shooting, while some others said that people panicked over "fireworks." Some people, however, called it misinformation, stating that there was poor crowd control and two shoving incidents.
"Was headed home from the Juneteenth celebration in Leimert Park when I saw people running away from the park as if a shooting had occured. So I walked back to the park and everything was fine. Then it happened again. But someone on stage said there was nothing to worry about," a fan tweeted.
"Saw one person in tears afterwards and a few young kids with terrified looks on their faces. Lotta people left afterwards. 'Well that was traumatizing,' I overheard a woman say. 'For the kids.' Everyone walking away from the park seemed to be processing what happened," the person added.
Another concertgoer said, "Everyone was pushed and shoved right before Jazmin was supposed to come out! Apparently a tent fell down so that's why everyone started running??" Echoing the sentiment, one other user wrote, "N***a a tent fell, n***as start running like they was shooting. Jazmine Sullivan said f**k it and they shut it down. It was almost over anyway."
There's no official statement regarding the matter or whether there's a victim in the incident just yet.
