Disney is attacked by racist Twitter users, who accuse the studio of being 'too woke' by having black actors play originally white characters in some of its latest movies.

AceShowbiz - Yara Shahidi has just made her debut as Tinkerbell in "Peter Pan & Wendy", which trailer has been made available online. Instead of celebrating the diversity, some racist Twitter users slammed Disney for the casting decision.

The angry critics accused the studio of being "too woke" by having black actors play originally white characters in some of its latest films. This is after Disney also cast Halle Bailey to star as the titular character in its upcoming live-action musical "The Little Mermaid".

"So instead of giving POC their own movies or making new movies with POC characters, they decided to just make white characters Black for some reason?" one of the critics wrote on Twitter. Another sarcastically tweeted, "Who's rooting for Paris Hilton to play Pocahontas? Come on guys."

A third exclaimed, "Not my Tinkerbell." A fourth user slammed Disney, "see now i understand when people say disney is too woke or trying to be. a black tinker bell?" Echoing the sentiment, someone else claimed, "At this point Disney isn't doing it for diversity it's just a marketing ploy to get peoples attention."

"I just feel like Dove Cameron would've been PERFECT but go off sis," another opined, while someone asked, "Why does every side character have to race swapped to black these days?" To this question, one person replied, "to show people like you that not everyone will look like you & that's okay."

Someone also shut down the online trolls as saying, "Tinkerbell isn't black' and fairies aren't f**king real so now what?"

"Peter Pan & Wendy" also stars Alexander Molony as Peter Pan, Ever Anderson as Wendy Darling, and Jude Law as Captain Hook among others. It is directed by David Lowery from the script he co-wrote with Toby Halbrooks.

Based on J.M. Barrie novel and the 1953 animated classic, it follows Wendy Darling, a young girl afraid to leave her childhood home behind, who meets Peter Pan, a boy who refuses to grow up. Alongside her brothers and a tiny fairy, Tinker Bell, she travels with Peter to the magical world of Neverland. There, she encounters an evil pirate captain, Captain Hook, and embarks on a thrilling and dangerous adventure that will change her life forever.

The fantasy movie will open in U.S. theaters on April 28.
