'Game of Thrones' Will Do This to Avoid Leaked Ending

The show will film multiple versions of the ending of season 8 in an attempt to prevent leaks.

AceShowbiz - Just how far will HBO go to prevent "Game of Thrones" spoilers? As anticipation for the upcoming season 8 will definitely grow bigger since it will conclude the year-long saga, the show has prepared a tactic to keep the mystery behind the final season under tight wraps.

Quoting HBO's president of programming Casey Bloys, The Morning Call reports that the show will shoot multiple alternate endings to avoid leaks. "I know in 'Game of Thrones', the ending, they're going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really know what happens," Bloys says.

Bloys adds, "You have to do that on a long show. Because when you're shooting something, people know. So they're going to shoot multiple versions so that there's no real definitive answer until the end."

Other hit series like "The Sopranos", which also aired on HBO, and AMC's "Breaking Bad", previously did the same thing to avoid leaked endings. AMC's "The Walking Dead" recently also shot multiple versions of Negan kills in season 7 premiere to preserve the mystery about the real victims.

Back in July, Kit Harington revealed that they filmed fake scenes during the production of season 7 to deceive paparazzi. He told Jimmy Kimmel on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" that he did three fake scenes which took about five hours each. "What a pain in your ass that is, I mean really," said the talk show host. That didn't help though, since there were many more real scenes leaked by paparazzi pictures.

"Game of Thrones" season 8 will reportedly begin production in October and it could continue until as late as August 2018. That means the new and last season likely will not arrive until 2019. "Our production people are trying to figure out a timeline for the shoot and how much time the special effects take," Bloys told The Hollywood Reporter.
