AceShowbiz - Meet your new warriors! Freeform's new live-action series "Marvel's New Warriors" has found its Squirrel Girl in "This Is Us" actress Milana Vayntrub. Milana will lead the ensemble cast of the comedy alongside Derek Theler ("Baby Daddy"), who is tapped to play Mister Immortal.

Milana's character, Doreen Green a.k.a. Squirrel Girl, is a totally empowered fangirl who has the incredible powers of a squirrel. Her greatest quality is her optimism and her best friend is a pet squirrel, Tippy Toe. As for Derek's Craig Hollis a.k.a. Mister Immortal, just like his name, his superpower is that he can't die, or so he says.

The series has also tapped other four actors to join the cast of the 10-episode comedy. Jeremy Tardy ("Dear White People") lands the role of Dwayne Taylor a.k.a. Night Trasher, a shameless self-promoter and entrepreneur who also deeply believes in justice. Meanwhile, Calum Worthy ("Austin & Ally") is set to play impulsive people-pleaser Robbie Baldwin a.k.a. Speedball.

Also joining the cast are Matthew Moy ("2 Broke Girls") and Kate Comer ("Hello, My Name Is Doris"). Matthew will play Zack Smith a.k.a. Microbe, a shy hypochondriac whose ability is that he can talk to germs, while Kate will portray Deborah Fields a.k.a. Debrii who possesses a low-level telekinetic.

"I am thrilled beyond belief to be working with this incredible group of actors. They are funny, sincere, eager, charming and perfectly embody these characters. It'll be a blast and an honor to create this show with each of them," said executive producer and showrunner Kevin Biegel.

"We're so lucky to have assembled such a diverse and incredibly talented cast," added executive producer Jeph Loeb. "We can't wait for the fans to see what’s in store when we unleash these iconic characters into the world!"

"Marvel's New Warriors" is based on the comics created by Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz of the same name. The series revolves around six young people who are learning to cope with their abilities in a world where bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates.

Picked up straight to series in April, "Marvel's New Warriors" is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios. Kevin and John will serve as showrunners and executive producers, with Jim Chory executive producing.

"Marvel's New Warriors" is set to debut in 2018 on Freeform.
