Stars Pay Tribute to 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' Star Glenne Headly Following Sudden Death

Seth Rogen, Josh Hutcherson, Ryan Reynolds, Steve Martin and Richard Dreyfuss are among celebrities who have paid tribute to the Emmy-nominated actress.

AceShowbiz - Glenne Headly, best known for her roles in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" and "Mr. Holland's Opus", has passed away. The two-time Emmy-nominated actress died suddenly on Thursday, June 8 at the age of 62. No cause of death was given.

Her reps confirmed the sad news, "It is with deep sorrow that we confirm the passing of Glenne Headly. We ask that her family's privacy be respected in this difficult time." She was in production of Hulu's series "Future Man" at the time of her death.

Hulu said in a statement, "We are shocked and deeply saddened by this terrible news. Glenne was a tremendous talent, and an even more extraordinary person. Our hearts go out to her family and loved ones." Headly reportedly had filmed five episodes of the 13-episode season. Producers plan to work around her and will not recast the role.

Seth Rogen, who produces the upcoming comedy series, has paid tribute to the actress on Twitter. "Devastated to hear about Glenne Headly's passing. She was an amazing person. Incredibly talented. Incredibly kind. I will miss her," he wrote.

Josh Hutcherson, who stars on "Future Man", added on Instagram, "I only knew the talented, empathetic, loving, beautiful Glenne Headly for a short time. She was powerful and strong and hilarious. Her eyes brought to life so many amazing characters over the years and her love brought to life a beautiful family. I'm gonna miss her presence, her smile, and the way she made me feel like her son before, between, and after they called action and cut."

Steve Martin, her co-star in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" (1988) and "Sgt. Bilko" (1996), also took to Twitter to mourn her death. "Our household mourns the sudden loss of beloved friend, actress, and comic genius, Glenne Headly," he wrote.

Ryan Reynolds, who co-starred Headly in 1993's "Ordinary Magic", called her his first "movie mom." He tweeted, "RIP the beautiful Glenne Headly. So charming, talented and kind."

Richard Dreyfuss, who played her husband in 1995's "Mr. Holland's Opus", told The Hollywood Reporter he was shocked and saddened to hear the news. "To say that she was professional is not enough," he said, "She was just perfect."

Dreyfuss went on remembering Headly, "She was a person who did not insist that her personality take over the character. Glenne Headly was this fantastically talented actress, who buried her personality beneath the character she was playing. And it is very rare that you run into that. And at the same time, she was sweet and funny and happy on the set."

Sarah Paulson posted on Twitter, "Rest In Peace, Glenne Headly, you brilliant woman... You were one of the greats. Sending love and strength to your loved ones."

Marg Helgenberger similarly wrote, "Glenne Headly was always GREAT. I had the honor of working with her, & am deeply saddened that she's gone. My thoughts are with her family."

Jon Cryer echoed the sentiment, "So saddened to hear of the death of Glenne Headly. Always loved to watch her work. Always."

Tom Hanks joined the mourners, "Terribly sad to learn of Glenne Headly passing."
