Tom Holland Lands Lead Role in Video Game Adaptation 'Uncharted'
Movie

The 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' actor will play the descendant of Sir Francis Drake in the movie directed by Shawn Levy.

AceShowbiz - "Uncharted" has finally found its male lead in Tom Holland. After getting the coveted role in Sony's "Spider-Man: Homecoming", the actor is now signed on by the studio to play treasure-hunting hero Nathan Drake, a descendant of the iconic explorer Sir Francis Drake.

Adapted from a popular video game of the same name, the movie has been in development hell for a long time. After numerous false starts, the studio finally hires Shawn Levy ("Real Steel", "Night at the Museum") to sit behind the lens for the long-gestating project.

Mark Wahlberg was previously attached to the feature film, but he eventually dropped out. Now that the studio settles on much-younger Holland, the film will seemingly launch the franchise by focusing on a young Nathan Drake instead of following the adult version of the adventurer like the first installment of the video game.
