AceShowbiz - In a February 4 episode of "Saturday Night Live", Melissa McCarthy stole the show as she impersonated Donald Trump administration press secretary Sean Spicer. And now, the White House press secretary has responded to McCarthy's portrayal of him by calling it a little exaggerated.
According to Extra, Spicer said that McCarthy "needs to slow down on the gum chewing" because there were way too many pieces in there. Overall he thought the sketch comedy was a really "funny" show, but he felt that McCarthy "could dial back" a bit.
The press secretary also gave his comment about Alec Baldwin, who was back on "Saturday Night Live" with his portrayal of Trump. Spicer said, "Alec has gone from funny to mean, and that's unfortunate. 'SNL' used to be really funny." He added, "There's a streak of meanness now that they've crossed over to mean."
Spicer then addressed the protests which have been happening accross the country for a third straight week. "Protests are what make this country great," he claimed. Criticizing the frequency of the protests, Spicer said, "Protesting is starting to become a profession for some on the left. Again, that's their right to do, but Americans need to understand it's not organic as it may seem sometimes."
"Saturday Night Live" will return on NBC on Saturday, February 11, with Baldwin set as a host. This will mark Baldwin's 17th time delivering the monologue on the show, giving him a new record for most times hosting the show. Additionally, Ed Sheeran will be returning to the sketch comedy series as the musical guest for the second time.
