The actor pulled off a notable appearance as a mentor before, becoming Katniss Everdeen and Peeta's mentor in 'The Hunger Games' movie series.

AceShowbiz - Woody Harrelson has responded to a report that he would join a "Star Wars" spin-off centering on Han Solo. During an interview at Sundance Film Festival on January 22, Harrelson confirmed that he would play Han Solo's mentor. "Yes, I am," he said when Variety asked him.

On January 12, during a live Q&A session held by Mashable UK, Harrelson also talked about his role. "I'm a mentor to Han but I'm also a bit of a criminal. I don't think I should say much more than that because the Force is not allowing me." Fans assume that Harrelson will play Garris Shrike, a man who raises Han Solo in a non-canon "Star Wars" books. There hasn't been any official announcement about the name of Harrelson's character, though.

Harrelson has pulled off a notable appearance as a mentor before. He played Haymitch Abernathy, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta's mentor, in "The Hunger Games" movie series.

The Han Solo standalone movie will focus on the event before "Star Wars: A New Hope", the same as blockbuster "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story". While plot details haven't been announced yet, it may focus on how Han Solo becomes a smuggler we know. The character was magnificently portrayed by Harrison Ford in classic "Star Wars" movies and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". Alden Ehrenreich is on board to play younger Han Solo.

The Han Solo movie is scheduled to be released in 2018. Also starring alongside Ehrenreich and Harrelson in the film are Donald Glover as Han Solo's friend Lando Calrissian and Emilia Clarke.
