'Green Lantern Corps' is in the midst of looking for an actor to play Hal Jordan and reportedly has added the 'X-Men' star's name on the shortlist.

AceShowbiz - Although James Marsden has joined Marvel's big family by starring in "X-Men" films as Cyclops, he is reportedly being eyed by Marvel's rival company DC Comic to star in "Green Lantern Corps". An insider says Marsden is included in the shortlist of actors being considered to play one out of two Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan, in the upcoming movie.

"I've heard one more name, too," the insider spills the beans about Marsden's potential casting. "Ever since 'Westworld', Marsden has been pretty hot around here. They've discussed him for Hal as well," the insider adds.

Previously, news broke about possible shortlist of actors who may play Hal Jordan. The list included famous names such as Tom Cruise, Jake Gyllenhaal, Armie Hammer, Bradley Cooper, Joel McHale and Ryan Reynolds, the latest of which previously played Hal Jordan in 2011's "Green Lantern".

While the company is busy trying to find the perfect actor to play Hal Jordan, they don't have to seek far for the other Green Lantern, John Stewart. Sterling K. Brown has "humbly" made public plea on Twitter to play the role of John Stewart in the upcoming movie.

Warner Bros and DC Comics tapped David Goyer and Justin Rhodes to write the script of "Green Lantern Corps". Unlike the previous adaptation "Green Lantern" which focused more on Hal Jordan, the upcoming movie is expected to focus on the Corps itself, the intergalactic police force formed to protect different sectors of the universe. "Green Lantern Corps" is currently scheduled for a July 24, 2020 release in the U.S.
