Chris Evans' Steve Rogers Is No Longer Captain America in MCU, Russo Brothers Confirm
Movie

The 'Captain America: Civil War' scene where the World War II veteran drops his shield is confirmed to symbolize him giving up his superhero mantle.

AceShowbiz - Don't expect to see Chris Evans suiting up as Captain America in the future Marvel movies. Anthony and Joe Russo who directed "Captain America: Civil War" confirm that Steve Rogers has given up his identity as Cap in Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"I think him dropping that shield is him letting go of that identity," Joe told The Huffington Post. He elaborated, "[It's] him admitting that certainly the identity of Captain America was in conflict with the very personal choice that he was making."

Team Cap was pitted against Team Iron Man in the third Captain America movie. Steve Rogers has Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye, Anthony Mackie's Falcon, Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes, Paul Rudd's Ant-Man and Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch as his allies while Tony Stark has Don Cheadle's War Machine, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther, Paul Bettany's The Vision and Tom Holland's Spider-Man on his side.
