The network has ordered 10 episodes of 'World of Dance', an unscripted series that pits the world's elite dancers against one another, executive produced by the 'Shades of Blue' star.

AceShowbiz - Jennifer Lopez is bringing "World of Dance" to NBC. The former "American Idol" judge is teaming up with the network for a new dance competition series that has been greenlit with a straight-to-series ten-episode order.

The brand new series described as an "unparalleled dance competition" pits solo artists against duos and crews in all genres of dance, including hip hop, krumping, popping, locking, tap, ballet, break dancing, ballroom, clogging, stomping and more. The winner will receive $1 million.

J.Lo, who is also starring on NBC's cop drama "Shades of Blue", is on board as executive producer. It's currently unknown if she will appear in any on-camera capacity. "This will be a fierce talent-heavy dance competition that embraces the raw emotion and excitement that dance represents," she says in a statement. "I am excited to work with 'World of Dance', an organization that has had an immeasurable impact on the dance community, to give all dancers an enormous platform where their dreams can be realized."

Contestants will be handpicked from qualifying events around the country and thousands of online submissions. They will be divided into three groups, junior (any size act under 16 years old), upper (groups of 1-4, over 16 years of age) and team (groups of five or more, over 16 years).

Lopez announces the new show in a video that also invites dancers to join the auditions.
