The SkinnyGirl founder reveals that she went under the knife in May to remove uterine fibroids after suffering from excessive bleeding over the past year.

AceShowbiz - Bethenny Frankel reveals her secret health scare. "The Real Housewives of New York City" star opens up that she was diagnosed with uterine fibroids in 2013. She says it may have caused her miscarriage several years ago. It's also one of the reasons why she scaled back her time on the Bravo reality show.

The SkinnyGirl founder lost almost 10|percent| of her blood and had to visit emergency room numerous times. "The bleeding was so excessive and I was so weak," she tells Lara Spencer on "Good Morning America". "I felt like I looked so haggard and had such black circles under my eyes that I had to take care of."

She had a surgery in May to remove uterine fibroids. "I've been treating myself really healthfully since then. I recovered really well, I have a scar, but I think I'm OK," she says. "I have to start menstruating again and see how that all works. I've lost a little bit of weight, which people have commented on, of course."

She had "a lot of anxiety" over the past year, but now she feels better. "I feel good. I think the way that you take care of yourself is really important," she explains. "I'm drinking more water. Everyone thinks because I have a brand called Skinnygirl that I'm all focused on health all the time and I'm not. I'm stressed. I'm a mom, just like anyone else."

"But since the surgery, I was drinking green juices and eating more vegetarian foods and trying to just eat healing foods," she says. "I did go to school for food and healing, so I've tried to really exercise that. I think that's why the recovery's been more quick than my doctors said."
