Movie

'Captain America: Civil War' star Chris Evans hopes that 'phenomenal' Brie Larson would star as the female superhero in 'Captain Marvel'.

AceShowbiz - Oscar winner Brie Larson was recently reported in talks to take the lead role in the upcoming "Captain Marvel". A deal has not been made yet, but the talented actress has got support from "Captain America: Civil War" star Chris Evans.

According to ComicBook.com, during a Wizard World panel in Philadelphia, Evans was asked about the rumor. "I just heard about that," he said. "I really hope that happens! I love Brie Larson. We did a movie together back in 2009 film 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World'," he added. Larson played Natalie "Envy" Adams in "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World", while Evans played Lucas Lee, the second member of the Evil Exes with super strength.

Evans also expressed his enthusiasm for the possibility of Larson playing Captain Marvel, "I cannot say enough about Brie Larson. I think she's phenomenal, and I really hope that happens."

"Captain Marvel" centers on Carol Danvers, an American security officer whose DNA is fused with that of the alien Kree race. Danvers would be one of the new characters in Marvel Cinematic Universe phase three, which includes Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme in "Doctor Strange", Tom Holland's webslinger character in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and Chadwick Boseman's title character in "Black Panther".

No director is on board for "Captain Marvel" yet. "Inside Out (2015)" writer Meg LeFauve and "Guardians of the Galaxy" co-writer Nicole Perlman are working on the script, with Marvel's Kevin Feige set as the producer. "Captain Marvel" is currently scheduled for U.S. release on March 8, 2019.
