The X-Men spin-off starring Channing Tatum may occupy one of the two mystery dates that the studio has set up for 2017 and 2018.

AceShowbiz - Twentieth Century Fox is making some big changes to its upcoming releases. The studio has taken Marvel's X-Men spin-off "Gambit" off its original release date and is yet to determine a new schedule.

Much like "Deadpool", "Gambit (2017)" has been going through ups and downs in its development. Star Channing Tatum left for a while before signing a deal to star as the card-wielding mutant in August 2015. The film was due to start production in October last year but for some reasons that did not happen. Director Rupert Wyatt then exited the project reportedly because of the delay and creative differences.

Doug Liman was eventually picked up for the directing gig in November but that did not help in speeding up the production. There was no way that the film would make it in time for October 7, 2016 release and BoxOffice.com revealed on Sunday, February 28 that the studio is indeed delaying the premiere.

No new date has been set but Fox has booked two new dates for its future Marvel movies and "Gambit" could occupy one of them. The mystery dates are set on October 6, 2017 and January 12, 2018. "Alien: Covenant" was previously scheduled to open on the former date but is now set for August 4, 2017. Meanwhile, Shane Black's "Predator" is scheduled for March 2, 2018 release against an untitled Warner Bros.' Event Film.

A change is also made for Tim Burton's "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" which will now arrive September 30, 2016. "The Mountain Between Us" is yanked form its February 10, 2017 date and is now without a release date.
