Police have launched an investigation on an allegedly missing copy of E.L. James' latest novel 'Grey' amidst fears that it could be sold on the black market.

AceShowbiz - New "Fifty Shades of Grey" novel titled "Grey" which is scheduled to be published on Thursday, June 18 was allegedly stolen. According to the U.K. Mirror, police have launched an investigation amidst fears that the book could be sold on the black market.

The site reports that a copy of the book "was discovered missing and police were alerted. The theft is now being investigated alongside its publishers Penguin Random House, amid concerns that extracts from the highly-anticipated erotic novel will be sold to the highest bidder on the black market."

While a representative for Penguin Random House refused to comment on the report, a spokeswoman for CPI U.K., which is printing "Grey", didn't seem to be concerned about the investigation. She said, "I doubt it's gone missing from one of our printworks seeing as I haven't heard about it."

E.L. James also didn't seem to be concerned about the investigation as she tweeted on Tuesday morning a link of an article about "Grey" publishing in Brazil.
