The freshman comedy starring Karen Gillan did not pick up the pace since debuting in September with 5.3 million viewers.

AceShowbiz - "Selfie" did not survive ABC's ax. The network has canceled the freshman comedy series due to low ratings and will not order beyond its 13 episodes.

The half-hour comedy premiered on Tuesday, September 30 with a mediocre 5.3 million viewers and a 1.6 rating among adults 18 to 49. The series failed to pick up more viewers in the following episodes with the most recent one gaining mere 3.2 million viewers.

ABC had canceled its companion series "Manhattan Love Story" last month due to even lower ratings but kept "Selfie" on air to see how it would perform on its own. The Alphabet even tried to air back-to-back episodes on November 4 but to no avail.

"Selfie" will still air on November 11 at its regular 8 P.M. slot but it's unclear how many remaining episodes will air. ABC has several holiday specials in line ready to take over the slot up to December.

Starring Karen Gillan and John Cho, "Selfie" centers on the life of Gillan's Eliza Dooley, a woman obsessed with the idea of achieving fame through the use of social media platforms and seeks advisement from image guru Cho's Henry Higgs.
