Kevin Costner Coaches Lost Boys in First 'McFarland, USA' Trailer
Movie

Taking a real-life role, Costner becomes an experience-less coach who sees the running potential of several high school boys.

AceShowbiz - Kevin Costner is an inspirational high school track team coach in "McFarland, USA". First trailer from the true story film has been released, showing a blend of comedy, patriotism and drama which have become the trademarks of a Disney movie.

The pic, previously titled simply "McFarland", tells the true story of a coach living in the 1980s in a predominantly Latino town outside of Bakersfield, Calif. The coach created a high school track team that overcame many social and physical hurdles to become champions.

Costner takes the role of Coach Jim White who has no absolute experience in coaching or running in a track team whatsoever. He is hired anyway and begins to see natural talents. The runners overcome the odds to forge not only a championship cross-country team, but an enduring legacy for the community and achieve their own kind of American dream.

Directed by Niki Caro, "McFarland, USA" will be released in U.S. theaters February 20, 2015. It was previously scheduled to hit theaters November 21 this year but "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1" is released on the same date. The drama is smart enough to dodge competition from a blockbuster which has been showing signs to rake in big dollars with the pre-sale of its tickets.
