Elena will try to forget Damon who is presumed death while he and Bonnie are stuck in a 'familiar' and 'empty' place.

AceShowbiz - As "The Vampire Diaries" kicked off its sixth season, executive producer Julie Plec shared an interesting tidbit about Elena. In a new interview with E! News, she hinted that the mortal beauty-turned-vampire could be getting a new love interest.
"There actually is a character that floats around in her college universe who clearly has eyes for her," said the executive producer of the character, who is still grieving following Damon's disappearance. "Whether she has eyes for him...you know, that's too soon to tell because of course she's lost the love of her life."
Plec said Elena would try "extremely controversial" methods to move on, but she would later pull herself together. In the season 6 opener, [SPOILER ALERT!] Elena asked Alaric to help her forget she ever loved Damon.
In a preview for next week's outing, it seems that Alaric will do Elena a favor as he's seen trying to figure out when Elena fell in love with Damon. "She fell in love with Damon when she was still with Stefan," Caroline says, and Stefan overhears.
Meanwhile, Damon and Bonnie are stuck in a place they don't know. Plec said, "We will learn the truth about where they are in the second episode. So it's not going to be like, 'Oh God, please tell me' for 17 episodes.' " Meanwhile, fans can make their guesses based on the three keywords given by Plec, which were "Familiar. Nostalgic. Empty."
She further teased, "Anybody who wants to get a little clever trying to figure it out, they should dig a little deep into the episode titles and see if they can find some guesses. Do a little investigative work. It's a fun game to play."
The new episode "Yellow Ledbetter" will air Thursday, October 9 at 8/7c on The CW. Enzo (Michael Malarkey) convinces Caroline to join him as he tracks down a lead to get Damon and Bonnie back, but Caroline is shocked when they make an unexpected detour and uncover what Stefan has been up to.
Meanwhile, Matt worries about Jeremy who is spending time with Sarah (guest star Gabrielle Walsh), a mysterious girl who has recently arrived in Mystic Falls. Elsewhere, Tripp (guest star Colin Ferguson), leader of the community protection program, makes an interesting confession to Matt about his connection to the town. Lastly, with the Other Side destroyed and gone for good, Damon and Bonnie reluctantly band together to uncover the mystery of where they are and how they are going to get back home.
