BBC Asks Fans Not to Share Leaked 'Doctor Who' Scripts

In a statement released to media, BBC Worldwide also apologizes for the security breach which caused the leak of five scripts of the upcoming series starring Peter Capaldi.

BBC has responded to news that five scripts for the upcoming season of "" landed online. In a statement released on Monday, July 7, BBC Worldwide apologized for the security breach which caused the eagerly-awaited series' leak and asked fans not to share any detail from the leaked scripts to wider audience.

"BBC Worldwide is currently investigating a security issue around Doctor Who Series 8 where unfinished material has inadvertently been made public. We deeply regret this and apologize to all the show's fans, the BBC and the cast and crew who have worked tirelessly making the series," the statement read.

"We would like to make a plea to anyone who might have any of this material and spoilers associated with it not to share it with a wider audience so that everyone can enjoy the show as it should be seen on 23rd August. We know only too well that Doctor Who fans are the best in the world and we thank them for their help with this and their continued loyalty," it continued.

The leak apparently took place after the scripts were sent to BBC Worldwide's Latin America headquarters in Miami for translation. The premiere episode of the series starring is called "Deep Breath" which was written by Steven Moffat. The new season will air on Saturday, August 23, at 8 P.M. ET on BBC America.
