The actors will return as executive producers for a new edition of the series that focuses on first-time filmmakers.

AceShowbiz - Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are bringing back "Project Greenlight". HBO has given a go to the revived series, with the best pals returning as executive producers. Adaptive Studios' Marc Joubert, T.J. Barrack, Perrin Chiles and Marshall Lewy and Miramax's Zanne Devine are also back on board for the new edition.

" 'Project Greenlight' was ahead of its time," says Academy Award-winning producer Affleck. "Now that technology has caught up to the concept, we thought it was a perfect time to bring it back. A whole new generation of filmmakers has grown up sharing everything, and the next big director could be just an upload away. It is really great having 'Project Greenlight' back at HBO."

His partner Damon adds, " 'Project Greenlight' works - careers have been launched and sustained as a direct result of this contest. Pete Jones, John Gulager, Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan are just a few of the 'PGL' alums who've gone on to do great things in Hollywood, and Ben and I are really proud of that."

HBO's Michael Lombardo chimes in, "We are delighted to reunite with Ben and Matt for a new season of 'Project Greenlight'. This unique show offers a fascinating look inside moviemaking that is unlike anything else on TV."

"Project Greenlight", which focuses on first-time filmmakers being given the chance to direct a feature film, originally aired and ran for two seasons from 2002-2003 on HBO before it moved to Bravo for its third season in 2005. Three films produced during the filming of the series were "Stolen Summer", "The Battle of Shaker Heights" and "Feast".

In HBO-related news, the network is developing a Bessie Smith biopic which has Queen Latifah attached to take the lead role as the "Empress of the Blues". Dee Rees ("Pariah") will write and direct the project to be called "Blue Goose Hollow", which reportedly eyes a mid-June 2014 production start date in Atlanta.
