The Jim Brass depicter, who is one of the two remaining original stars on the show, is set to exit the long-running series at the end of the current season.

AceShowbiz - "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" will bid farewell to another of its original cast members. Paul Guilfoyle, who has played Captain Jim Brass since the first episode in 2000, is going to leave the show at the end of the current 14th season.

"Paul made Capt. Brass a standout character," say executive producers Carol Mendelsohn and Don McGill. "He is not just an original cast member, he is an original. In a show about forensics, fans always looked forward to the handcuffs coming out, and Capt. Brass putting his spin on the crime of the week, just as Paul Guilfoyle put his indelible stamp on the character and the show. He will be missed."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was the producers' decision to end the character's storyline. Guilfoyle reportedly made an emotional farewell speech during final day of production on Friday, March 21. The season finale is scheduled to air May 7 on CBS. There's no word on how Capt. Brass will be written off the show.

With Guilfoyle's impending exit, George Eads will be the only remaining original star when "CSI" returns with its 15th season. Gary Dourdan departed the show in 2008, William Petersen bowed out in 2009 and Marg Helgenberger exited in 2012 but she recently returned for the show's 300th episode.
