may return to NBC, more than two decades after "The Cosby Show" ended its run on the network. The actor/comedian has made a deal with the Peacock to develop a half-hour comedy which is eyed as his starring vehicle.

Cosby is teaming up with Tom Werner, who produced his 1980s hit sitcom, for the new family comedy. The new show will be built around Cosby, who will play the patriarch of a multi-generational family and, like his previous family sitcoms, will channel his take on marriage and parenting, Deadline reports.

Cosby and Werner are reportedly meeting with writers on the project. NBC has not ordered a pilot for the project since it is put on development outside of the traditional pilot season window.

The 76-year-old, who won three Emmys for his role on NBC's "I Spy", has previously talked about his plans to return to TV. "They would like to see a married couple that acts like they love each other, warts and all, children who respect the parenting, and the comedy of people who make mistakes. Warmth and forgiveness," he said back in November. "So I hope to get that opportunity, and I will deliver the best of Cosby, and that will be a series, I assume, that we could get enough people week after week after week to tune in to, to come along with us."
