The former 'Today' show host is said 'in the late stages' of negotiations to resign from her post as a special correspondent at ABC News.

AceShowbiz - Katie Couric may soon move from television to Internet. It has been reported that the "Katie" host is currently "in the late stages" of negotiations to leave her job as a special correspondent at ABC News to take a new role at Yahoo.

In 2011, Couric signed a three-year deal with ABC News. She has since hosted her self-titled daytime talk show distributed by Disney-ABC Domestic Television. The show returned for a second season this fall and sources at Disney-ABC say that a decision about the show's future will not be made until sometime in December.

ABC News refuses to comment on the report. However, an executive seemingly confirms the news as telling The Hollywood Reporter, "Katie is an incredible journalist and this was an opportunity that she couldn't pass up. Thanks to the powerful association between ABC News and Yahoo we know that Katie will continue to work closely with us and welcome her on our air anytime."

Meanwhile, Couric is reportedly close to finalizing an extensive deal with Yahoo after being personally wooed by the company's CEO Marissa Mayer. Sources say the former "Today" host will likely host a newsmaker interview program that will be featured on the site's home page.
