AceShowbiz - Ed Sheeran announced on Monday, October 4 that he recorded a new song for upcoming movie "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug". Released on iTunes on Tuesday, November 5, the track called "I See Fire" will be played during the closing credits of the film.

"I very happy to announce I have written and recorded the end credits song for the new Hobbit movie 'The Desolation of Smaug'," the British redhead shared the exciting news on Twitter. He also revealed that he played all the instruments, except the cello, on the track.

"I got the chance to produce and play all the instruments on it apart from the cello. Managed to learn violin for a day, hope you all dig it," he added.

Shortly after "I See Fire" became available on iTunes, Sheeran released the music video for the song. It opens with the "Lego House" hitmaker performing the tune while playing his guitar in a recording studio. Some scenes from the Peter Jackson-directed movie are also featured in the nearly-six-minute clip.

"Now I see fire/ Inside the mountain/ I see fire/ Burning the trees/ And I see fire/ All of we souls/ And I see fire/ Blood in the breeze/ And I hope that you remember me," Sheeran sings the chorus over the sound of guitar.

"I See Fire" marks Sheeran's first solo release in over two years. However, the song won't be featured in the 22-year-old singer's upcoming album, which is currently in the works. The follow-up to "+" is expected to arrive next year.
