Underwood gives a touching tribute with 'See You Again' while Swift sings 'Red' from her album of the same title.

AceShowbiz - Carrie Underwood brought tears to an otherwise fun and light 2013 CMT Music Awards held in Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday night, June 5. The Oklahoma native took the opportunity of her live performance spot to pay tribute to the victims of the tornado that ravaged her home state, dedicating her new single "See You Again".

As Underwood sang the emotional tune, backed up by the Nashville Christ Church choir for a rousing rendition, images of the aftermath of the tragic natural disaster were flashed on giant wide screens behind the performers. The heartrending tribute, which also aimed to encourage viewers to continue donating to the American Red Cross disaster relief fund, drew a lengthy standing ovation from the audience.

Another highlight of the ceremony was provided by Taylor Swift, who sang her single "Red" from her latest album of the same title. Swift made sure everyone who got to watch the performance would remember it or at least, the song's title, as it was unmistakably screaming red all over, from her electric guitar to the flags that were being waved onstage behind her and of course, her outfit, reminiscent of Angelina Jolie's Oscar red-carpet gown that showed off her long legs.

Other top acts lending their talent to the awards show were Underwood's fellow big winner Miranda Lambert who sang "Mama's Broken Heart" and Hunter Hayes who sang his new song "I Want Crazy". Jason Aldean teamed up with unlikely guest performer Lenny Kravitz for the show's opening number. Florida Georgia Line did the same as Aldean, closing the show with hip-hop artist Nelly.
