Under 'doctor's orders,' the 'American Idol' season 11 champion has to put off the rest of his two-month tour of colleges and universities.

AceShowbiz - Fans of "American Idol" season 11 winner Phillip Phillips will be disappointed to know that he has been forced to postpone the remaining nine dates of his ongoing colleges and universities tour that kicked off back in March. The 22-year-old artist has been held down anew by his recurring bout with his kidney ailment aggravated by exhaustion and dehydration brought on by his performances.

"Hey guys, due to doctor's orders I have to postpone my last few tour dates," the "Home" singer wrote on his Facebook page this morning. His disappointing message came with a silver lining where he cheerfully announced, "They will be rescheduled!"

Although there's no word yet as to when the deferred tour dates will be rescheduled but they would come after Phillips concludes his opening act chores on blues rocker John Mayer's "Born and Raised" tour. "Looking forward to seeing you all on the John Mayer tour this summer!" he added on his FB post.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if Phillips will be well enough to perform on the forthcoming "Idol" finale but fans are hoping he can overcome the pain and discomfort enough to take the stage when the show ushers in its newest champion. Phillips had suffered from his kidney ailment while competing unscathed with other season 11 finalists and had to undergo surgery for kidney stones last year.
