Dave Grohl Announces Sound City Players for Sundance Gig

The Foo Fighters frontman unveils the members of his 'Sound City' musical group set to perform at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

Former drummer and current frontman has finally revealed the artists who will join him onstage for a special debut performance at the highly anticipated Sundance Film Festival. Called the "Sound City Players", it's a veritable Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with such artists as former member as well as Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear of Nirvana lining up to take the stage.

Foo Fighters' Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel & Chris Shiflett, 's drummer Brad Wilk, The Wallflowers' Rami Jaffee, Cheap Trick's guitarist Rick Nielsen, Fear's lead singer Lee Ving as well as , Alain Johannes and Chris Goss are all also set to perform.

The highly-anticipated film festival marks the debut performance of the Sound City Players, a group of core musicians and special guests from Grohl's "" documentary about the revered recording studio. Grohl and the Sound City Players are set to perform on January 18 at the Park City Live while Grohl's directorial debut film gets featured in the annual film festival's Documentary Premieres.

Grohl and his former bandmates as well as rock legend Stevie Nicks are among the many artists who have, at one time in their careers, recorded their album in the two-building complex in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, California. It served as the recording studio for some of the most successful albums from the biggest names in music from Fleetwood Mac to Nirvana and from to .

Grohl's personal connection with Sound City began when he joined Nirvana's late frontman in recording their breakthrough album "" in the famed recording studio.
