The Abraham Lincoln film bags seven nods in total, followed by 'Argo' and 'Django Unchained' with five, as well as 'Zero Dark Thirty', 'Les Miserables' and 'Silver Linings Playbook' with four.

AceShowbiz - Before the Academy Awards reveals its nominees on January 10, many people are eager to find out the 2013 Golden Globes Awards nominations to predict which titles will likely make it to the Oscars noms. Adding the hype to the busy awards season, the Globes officially announced its nominees on Thursday, December 13, revealing the dominations of Steven Spielberg's history drama "Lincoln".

The Abraham Lincoln drama bags a total of seven nods, including the coveted Best Drama, where it will face a stiff competition against "Argo", "Django Unchained", "Life of Pi" and "Zero Dark Thirty (2012)". This is the second time in less than a week "Lincoln" dominates an awards nominations after recently breaking record with 13 nods at 2013 Critics' Choice Movie Awards.

Following the announcement, Spielberg offers his comment via telephone with Los Angeles Times, "This is a part of what I do that I have absolutely not a scintilla of control over, and because of that it's just, you're on a ride, and the safety bar comes down, and you can't get off until it stops."

Trailing behind the Daniel Day-Lewis-starring presidential film is Ben Affleck's true story political drama "Argo" and Quentin Tarantino's slavery era action comedy "Django" with five noms each. Meanwhile, "Zero Dark Thirty", "Les Miserables" and "Silver Linings Playbook" collect four nods apiece.

The big surprise comes from British dramedy "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" which snatches three nominations for Best Comedy-Musical, Best Actress (Emily Blunt) and Best Actor (Ewan McGregor) despite the fact that it has been out of awards season obscurity. Another small dramedy that makes it to the list is "Hope Springs (2012)" which brings Meryl Streep to compete in Best Actress in Comedy-Musical category.

On the other hand, critics' darling film that gets snubbed by the Globes is Benh Zeitlin's "Beasts of the Southern Wild", which has won many awards at some film festivals earlier this year and received multiple nominations at some other prestigious awards recently. Also, Peter Jackson's acclaimed work in "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" is totally ignored by the Globes.

For years, the Golden Globes nominations have been considered as the most important influencers to predict the Oscars contenders. Next year's edition of the Globes will be held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. The show will air live on NBC at 5 P.M. PT/ 8 P.M. ET, just two days before the 2013 Academy Awards announces its nominations. Dick Clark Production serves as the producer in association with the HFPA.
