Jessica Simpson's Dad Pleads Not Guilty to DUI Charges

Joe Simpson maintains his innocence over the DUI case and a pretrial hearing is set up for next month should it prolong.

AceShowbiz - Joe Simpson, the father and manager of singers Jessica Simpson and Ashlee Simpson, has pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence. The family patriarch has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of DUI and could face six months in jail if convicted.

Joe was arrested by police on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles last month. LAPD cops who pulled the 54-year-old over suspected that he was intoxicated and took him in for custody with handcuffs. Joe was booked and spent a night in jail before released the next day without bail.

Per TMZ, Joe pleaded not guilty in an L.A. courtroom on Thursday, September 13. He is also subject to a $1,000 fine and 36 months of probation if convicted. A pretrial hearing has been set for October 11 in Van Nuys Superior Court.

Joe reportedly had a couple of glasses of wine at dinner with his wife and had an alcohol level of 0.08 or above in his blood while driving.
