AceShowbiz - "The Avengers" continues its Box Office domination in its second weekend, reaching the billion-dollar mark at the worldwide market. The superhero blockbuster took in $103.2 million in the U.S. and $95 million overseas from Friday to Sunday.
The domestic and international total are $373.2 million and $628.9 million respectively. "The Avengers" is now 11th Hollywood's all-time worldwide blockbuster behind such movies as "The Dark Knight" and "Toy Story 3". Stateside, "Avengers" is on its way to surpass "The Hunger Games" to become this year's No. 1-grossing film.
This week, "Avengers" easily prevents newcomer "Dark Shadows" from taking the throne. The vampire film starred by Johnny Depp settles at a distant number 2 with $28.8 million. It is such a contrast to Tim Burton's last collaboration with Depp, "Alice in Wonderland", which opened with $116.1 million in 2010.
