'Touch' Gets Second Season, 'Alcatraz' and 'The Finder' Axed

In addition to bringing back the Kiefer Sutherland-starring show, FOX picks up five new shows, one of which is a comedy created by and stars Mindy Kaling.

Ahead of its upfront presentation next week, FOX has apparently made decisions about the fate of some shows. The network renews 's drama "" for a second season, but gives the boot to two struggling freshmen, J.J. Abrams' drama "" and "" spin-off "".

To fill the slots in next TV season, FOX has picked up three comedies ("It's Messy", "Ben & Kate" and ""), a serial killer thriller ("") and a drama ("").

"Messy" is created by and stars "" actress . It follows her young Bridget Jones-type OB/GYN character as she tries to navigate both her personal and professional life. and are enlisted as guest stars.

"Ben & Kate", which is based on the life of writer/executive producer Dana Fox's brother Ben, stars as a single mother who gets an assist from her brother () who moves in with her to help raise her baby. The project was previously known as "Ned Fox Is My Manny".

Coming from "" scribes Carter Bays, Craig Thomas and Chris Harris, "Goodwin Games" has , and Jake Lacy starring as siblings who inherit their late father's fortune only if they agree to his terms.

"Following" revolves around an incarcerated and diabolical serial killer () who taunts the damaged FBI profiler () who captured him by recruiting an army of deluded followers.

As for "Mob Doctor", it is a drama about a young female thoracic surgeon () who is split between two worlds as she juggles her career and her lifelong debt to the South Chicago mob. William Forsythe, , and James Carpinello join the cast.
