'Homeland' Season 2 Teaser Promises Answers to the Burning Questions
To tide fans over the return of "Homeland", Showtime has released a teaser for the upcoming season 2 that highlights the important moments from the first season. Reminding viewers about the unsolved mysteries, it's promised in the video that all the answers will be provided in the second chapter.
When it premieres on September 30, the second season will pick up six months after the events of the season 1 finale. It will deal with such questions as, "How's Carrie's rehabilitation? What's up with Saul? What's up with Brody and his wife, his political career?"
Offering hint to the first question, showrunner Alex Gansa teased, "Carrie has willed herself into a place of mental health, so she's very different from where she was last year." He added, "There's a tremendous sense out there in the audience of wanting Carrie to know that she was right, that she's not crazy and is really good at what she does, and that's the moment we're going to be building towards. Whether it's going to happen in Season 2, I can't tell you."
Talking about Carrie's involvement in the investigation of Abu Nazir and his master plan, showrunner Alex Gansa said, "It would have been too far a jump to bring her back into the fold full bore" considering the fact that she has undergone shock therapy for bipolar disorder, which would erase short-term memory. He added, "However, there are ways that she can work around the edges of the intelligence community that make sense."
As for Brody, he will not only face threat from Carrie and her alliance with Saul and the Agency since Gansa said, "Mike is going to be a big factor." He explained, "Since he's in military intelligence, he is going to get a hold of the commission report on the assassination attempt against the vice president, and there's going to be a bunch of stuff in there that doesn't make sense to him."
Also in season 2, Jamey Sheridan, who plays Vice President Walden, and Navid Nagahban, who plays Abu Nazir, are upped to series regulars. After only appearing via video or in flashback, Abu Nazir will play a bigger role in the next chapter as Gansa said, "He does factor in in a major way this year."
