Report: Krang Could Be the Villain in 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Reboot

Shortly after Michael Bay claims that the turtles will be featured as aliens in the remake, it is now reported that the pink supervillain will indeed be the major antagonist in the upcoming film.

AceShowbiz - Hot on the heels of the news that Michael Bay hinted about the alien origin in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", another possible major detail of the upcoming reboot film has been dropped. It was First Showing which claimed to have obtained an information about who might be the main villain in the anticipated film.

Multiple sources told the site Krang will indeed become the lead atagonist. Should the rumors be true, it will mark Krang's first appearance in a big screen take on the famous comics. The site additionally stated that in the film, the turtles "are actually four of an entire race of inter-dimensional beings." The four superheroes are said to be coming from "another dimension."

The upcoming remake movie project has been stealing attention especially after producer Bay claimed that Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael will not appear as mutants but as aliens. His statement sparked debates among fanboys, who disagreed with the idea to change the origin of the quartet.

"These turtles are from an alien race and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely lovable," so Bay stated while attending the 2012 Nickelodeon Upfront at the Lincoln Center in New York. "When you see this movie, kids are going to believe, one day, that these turtles actually do exist when we are done with this movie."

Paramount Pictures has scheduled to release "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" in the U.S. on Christmas Day in 2013. Plot details of the upcoming reboot are still scarce. Though so, it is said that the film will be a new reimagining of the iconic comic and cartoon series. "Wrath of the Titans" helmer Johnathan Liebesman is close to tackle the directing duty for the live action/CGI combo flick, which cost a reported $100 million to produce.
