First 'Dark Shadows' Trailer Is Jam-Packed With Johnny Depp's Antics and Witty Humors
Movie

Instead of presenting scenes that could raise goosebumps, the trailer offers footage that could invite laughters as Depp's Barnabas Collins is struck by cultural shock after waking up from the death.

AceShowbiz - The much awaited first trailer for Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows" has finally been made available for viewing pleasure. The sneak peek opens with creepy Gothic horror scenes, but as Johnny Depp's Barnabas Collins is seen waking up from his death, it turns out to be very much a comedy.

The footage is studded with humorous scenes, including the one that sees Collins getting struck by cultural shock as he realizes he's awakened in 1972. At one point, the quirky vampire is seen clumsily watching a TV before asking, "What sorcery is this?" He ends up opening the telly's back panel and yells at it, "Reveal yourself tiny songstress!"

Also highlighted in the trailer is Eva Green's Angelique Bouchard, who shamelessly seduces Collins by using her outrageous black magic. She is seen urging Collins to love her but he insists, "Never!" She then pins the vampire to the ground and licks his chest and face with her abnormally long tongue.

Collins is a rich, powerful and inveterate playboy who is also the master of Collinwood Manor. He, however, makes a grave mistake of breaking the heart of Bouchard, a witch who brings him to a fate worse than death; turning him into a vampire and then burying him alive.

Two centuries after his death, Collins is inadvertently freed from his tomb. The vampire then returns to his mansion only to find his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. He must now have some run-ins with various monsters, witches, werewolves and ghosts.

Based on a 1960s' Gothic soap opera, "Dark Shadows" also stars Helena Bonham Carter, Chloe Moretz, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jackie Earle Haley and Jonny Lee Miller among others. Warner Bros. Pictures will release the highly anticipated supernatural movie in the U.S. theaters on May 11.
